No Kit. No Problem.

Our DNA extraction kit uses household items. This means if you don't have a Market Science kit you likely still have all that you need. In our kit we use raw wheat germ, but you can use foods like strawberries, kiwis, spinach, and onions.

Below are a list of supplies you will need in order to complete the extraction per our instructions, but we also included a few links to other's instructions using some of the alternative foods.
Supplies for our instructions
Warm Water
Rubbing Alcohol (see below)
Dish Soap
Food/Extraction Material
Toothpick or Skewer
Cups/Tubes/Storage for Mixture
Outside Links & Alternative Instructions
Spinach DNA Extraction (Kansas Farm Bureau)
Strawberry DNA Extraction (Genome.gov)
Onion DNA Extraction (Museum Victoria & MSU)
Kiwi DNA Extraction (The Node)

There are many options for rubbing alcohol and all will work. We used a 70/30 Isopropyl Alcohol.
A 90% alcohol would better in theory, but it should not matter.
